In recent years, iced coffee has become increasingly popular. There are countless recipes available, many of which are produced by well-known companies like Starbucks and are even served in coffee shops. is Iced Coffee Illegal in Canada

Unsurprisingly, this rumor originated on TikTok in 2021 when content creator Taylor Jackson released a video explaining the “story” of what made iced coffee illegal in Canada.

In 2007, Canada and the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) signed a trade agreement to allow Canada to buy coffee beans from Columbia, Brazil, and Guatemala, he claimed.

This trade agreement allegedly cost more than $30 million, and Stephen Harper, the prime minister at the time, decided to renegotiate it in order to save money. The Canadian government outlawed iced coffee as a result of the decision made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

This is a fascinating tale, and on social media, the rumor that it rendered iced coffee illegal in Canada quickly spread. There is essentially no truth to the claim that iced coffee is unlawful; there is only one problem: it is entirely untrue. It is not now and never has been illegal to drink iced coffee.

However, despite the fact that iced coffee drinks are still available, you only need to visit your neighborhood Canadian Starbucks to confirm this.

It’s impressive how many people believed one of these “informative” videos posted on How many social media creators, including those from TikTok, claimed that iced coffee is forbidden in Canada. It’s not all that surprising, though, if you consider the past.

Over the years, several nations have enacted bans on caffeine, most recently Sweden in 1746 when the King wanted to learn more about the beverage’s effects on health. Therefore, even though coffee is currently legal in every nation on earth, it’s not out of the question that coffee or iced coffee could be outlawed.

After all, caffeine is a drug, and iced coffee contains caffeine, so I suppose it’s not too hard to understand why people might think it was made illegal to buy an iced coffee.

What Taylor Jackson has demonstrated, though, is that you shouldn’t believe everything you read, hear, or see online. Always conduct some independent research; never believe something just because it has been shared millions of times.

So, thankfully, iced coffee is not illegal in Canada, and as far as we know, it’s not illegal anywhere in the world.

This means that even during the sweltering summer, you can still get all of your favorite iced coffee drinks. Additionally, it indicates that there are no coffee police in our world, which is unquestionably a good thing!

Is Iced Coffee Illegal In Canada: Everything You Need To Know

Can You Buy Iced Coffee in Canada?

Yes, iced coffee is available in Canada. In actuality, iced coffee is not only completely legal in Canada, but it is also a very common drink order.

Canada has some very hot summers, contrary to popular belief, and iced coffee drinks are the ideal way to cool off during these times. The same well-liked iced coffee options that are available in the US and other countries are all available here.

Your neighborhood coffee shop is the ideal location in Canada to buy and consume iced coffee. The most well-known coffee shops in Canada are Starbucks and Tim Hortons, which together hold more than 76% of the market. However, there are also thousands of smaller, more regional coffee shops all over the place, including Second Cup Coffee Shop.

In Canada, coffee shops are a great place to buy fresh iced coffee, but you can also buy some pre-made iced coffee drinks at your neighborhood superstore.

How Do Canadians Make Their Iced Coffee?

Although making iced coffee is legal in Canada, we often use slightly different ingredients and a slightly different process.

The most well-known brand of home coffee in Canada is Tim Hortons, which is made from Arabica coffee beans. Different roasts are available for your hot or iced coffee, but the Tim Hortons blend is softer and less bitter than some American blends.

Brew the Coffee

Coffee should be added to the cafeteria (French press), along with boiling water, and steeped for approximately five minutes.

Add the Syrup

Pour your black coffee into a glass after pressing down on the plunger to remove the coffee grounds. Add maple syrup (how much depends on personal preference).

Cool It Down

Normally, coffee is allowed to cool, but Canadian iced coffee is stirred with milk before being topped off with ice. While doing so will cool the coffee, the ice will melt and further thin the iced coffee.

Enjoy

Just like when drinking hot coffee, you can sweeten your iced coffee with any additional sugar or sweetener.

Conclusion: Not Illegel

Iced coffee is one of the most consumed coffee beverages in Canada, so it’s fortunate that it’s not prohibited there.

This article should have helped debunk the myth, but always remember to take information from TikTok and other social media platforms with a grain of salt, whether you’re watching videos about iced coffee, weight loss, politics, or aliens.
